Kase 2 Rest in Peace - Kingdom of Islam Nation of God for I'm the one that rocks so far.
For all those not really acquainted with old school graffiti heritage, the multitude of eulogies remembering Kase2 may seem perplexing. The only way to appreciate this icon would be to in fact view the film StyleWars whenever Case 2 is on screen. Kase 2 fabricated the coolest quotes, produced an awesome graffiti style, plus encouraged 1000's or perhaps even millions of people to become a “KING OF STYLE”.
When I was 14 yrs old, I watched the movie STyle Wars the very first time. I actually saw the show on PBS, and I taped the entire show with a cassette . Actually not a VHS tape -- an audio tape recorder! Me & my graffiti buddies would then listen to the movie repeatedly while practicing our graffiti names, designs & letters. All of us wanted to be “The Magnetic King”.
How come? Mostly because all of us thought CASE2 was awesome. CASE2 developed the “Computer Rock” style. Plus he just expressed numerous darn cool quotes that we all dreamed of being just like Kase! So we would endeavor straight letters, block letters, mechanical letters and the computerrock whilst reiterating just about all Kase's cool quotes such as “fresh extraterrestrial brothers”. What was perhaps even wilder was CASE2 had just a single arm! & And in fact one foot as well. It was like even though this guy got a raw deal (coming from a youth incident) he was just giving it all 100%. It's like, yep the dude is amazing.”
One thing not to many people know would be that Kase 2 s initial claim to fame was his block letters. Curiously, many of us rarely see photos of these trains, mainly his computer rock style have been documented, possibly because by the end of that Ny city train graffiti period more people were snapping shots of subway cars. One more interesting fact regarding Kase 2 is that probably the artist's most famous graffiti masterworks, the Kase-Elkay car, rode several years! At the time, Nyc was furiously trying to remove graffiti on the MTA cars, nonetheless the Kase Elkay car for some reason sidestepped "The Buff" for several years, or perhaps merely passed through it maybe once or twice. Consequently, it basically ran on the rails for several years well following the release of STyle Wars.
